ESG is the acronym for Environmental, Social, and (Corporate) Governance. The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently proposed a new rule that would require companies to disclose certain climate-related information including risk, financial metrics, and greenhouse gas emissions in their registration statements and annual reports. Because ESG metrics typically need large volumes of data and assumptions, companies are well served to adopt a data product approach.
